Bhutan has unique architectural aesthetics built in timber - even an ordinary farm house possesses unique designs because Bhutan has a great resource of wood master carpenters.
The master carpenters of Bhutan are in great demand since every house being built with wood would employ their knowledge and skill.
For centuries, master carpenters have played an important role in the building of dzongs, temples, and palaces, bridges, furnitures, and so on.
Carpenters have to be skilled especially in the delicate work of joining wood.
They should possess both vast knowledge and experience in planning and use of accurate measurement.
Usually, apprentices are trained on measurement techniques dictated by the sacred scriptures since all the timbers of a house such as beams, pillars, windows, doors, and other fashioned wood structures have meanings related to religious purposes.
